The movie begins with a record of a Russian astronaut who’s going to die in the following seconds. That sets the tone. No more astronaut will be mentioned in this movie, but the angst is the little girl’s one, asking herself about her situation, trying to give some meaning to her unhappiness, by association of ideas… little girl’s ideas.

Seven year old Vibe lives with her grandparents. On the weekends, she travels over 100 kilometers to visit with her parents. The magic of childhood slowly fades to make way for reality. It is at this turning point, I ask her how this all came to be. The answer leads me from the idyllic landscapes of Moerkerke to Vibe’s mother, my sister, Britt. She lives behind closed curtains, isolated from the outside world. In an audiovisual play of seeing and being seen, of words and silence, I join mother and daughter in an indirect dialogue. Through it, I try to answer Vibe’s questions–as well as a few of my own.

In this dance of feet walking in front of his basement window, Mémo finds himself witness to stories and daily dramas without having the opportunity to take a stand.
