MUSIC & CINEMA AWARD

In partnership with the International Music & Cinema Festival in Marseille (MCM)

For 25 years, the Festival International Music & Cinema in Marseille (MCM) has been promoting film and musical creation for the screen through a selection of short and feature films, as well as a major professional programme, Lab on Mars, which includes a section dedicated to musical composition, featuring the European Market for Musical Composition for Image.

Since 2024, the Brussels Short Film Festival has also partnered with MCM to award the Music & Cinema Award to one of the short film projects.

Awarded projects are automatically selected and invited to the next edition of the European Market for Musical Composition for Image.

One month before the event, the selected projects are submitted to composers, who prepare a musical composition proposal based on a musical intention note and the script.

Producer–director pairs then meet each composer for an interview to assess the artistic qualities of their proposals. It is up to the composers to convince them to collaborate. After these meetings, each pair chooses the composer to whom they will entrust the musical score of their project.

The European Market for Musical Composition for Image is an initiative of the International Music & Cinema Festival in Marseille, with the support of Sacem.
