Paolo, metteur en scène, est dans un pays étranger pour créer une pièce autobiographique dans laquelle, par le biais du personnage principal, il témoigne de son enfance au sein d’une secte. Le soir de la première, il reçoit un appel de son frère : leur père est mourant. Son frère le somme de rentrer au chevet de leur père, mais Paolo, en état de choc, décide de rester pour les derniers raccords du spectacle. Pour Paolo, l’enjeu de la représentation publique prend un nouveau sens : en découdre avec son père, la religion, et son enfance volée.
